An Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes, 3 years ago left us in the emotional outburst in a Sydney hospital from a “catastrophic” injury to his head, two days after being struck by a delivery during a domestic first-class match. He was only 25 and his career was at the peak.
In November 2007, Hughes made his first-class debut for New South Wales, aged just 18, in a Pura Cup match against Tasmania in Sydney. He scored 51 runs after opening the batting.
In February 2008, he Scored his maiden first-class century in the Pura Cup final win over Victoria, again in Sydney. Aged just 19, he is the youngest player to score a hundred in the showpiece game.
In February 2009, Hughes is handed his first cap by Australia for the game against South Africa at the Wanderers in Johannesburg, replacing Matthew Hayden, scored a duck and 75, plundering most of his runs by taking on the hosts’ short-pitched bowling.
In March 2009, Hughes broke a record by becoming the youngest cricketer to score a century in each innings of a Test when, aged 20, he scores 115 and 160 against South Africa in his second Test in Durban. “I didn’t actually know about that record until I walked into the sheds and a couple of guys mentioned it, but it was one very special moment,” he said.
In January 2013, Hughes is called up to the Australian one-day team for the first time and becomes the first Australian to score a century in debut match, making 112 in a big win over Sri Lanka at the MCG. And Scored an another hundred in Hobart.
In July 2014, Playing for ‘Australia A’ against ‘South Africa A’, Hughes became the first Australian to score a double-century in a List A one-day match – an unbeaten 202 in Darwin. He reaches his double-hundred with a six off the last ball of the innings.
November 25, 2014, Struck on the neck by a bouncer during South Australia’s Sheffield Shield match against New South Wales in Sydney. He is rushed to hospital in a critical condition but dies of his injuries two days later.
